Numerical Method for Solving Electromagnetic Scattering Problem by Many Small Impedance Bodies

چکیده
In this paper, we study the problem of electromagnetic (EM) wave scattering by many small impedance bodies. A numerical method for solving this problem is presented. The problem is solved under the physical assumptions a ¿ d ¿ λ, where a is the characteristic size of the bodies, d is the minimal distance between neighboring bodies, λ = 2π/k is the wave length and k is the wave number. This problem is solved asymptotically and numerical results for the cases of 125 and 1000 small bodies are presented to illustrate the method. Error estimates for the asymptotic solutions are also provided.

Electromagnetic wave scattering by small bodies
A reduction of the Maxwell’s system to a Fredholm second-kind integral equation with weakly singular kernel is given for electromagnetic (EM) wave scattering by one and many small bodies. This equation is solved asymptotically as the characteristic size of the bodies tends to zero. The technique developed is used for solving the manybody EM wave scattering problem by rigorously reducing it to s...
متن کاملTM Electromagnetic Scattering from Multilayered Dielectric Bodies – Numerical Solution
An integral equation approach is derived for an electromagnetic scattering from an M multilayered dielectric domain. The integral equation is valid for 2D and 3D Helmholtz equation. Here we show the numerical solution for the 2D case by using the Nyström method. For validating the method we develop a mode matching method for the case when the domains are multilayered circular cylinders and give...
متن کاملTheory of block-pulse functions in numerical solution of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind
Recently, the block-pulse functions (BPFs) are used in solving electromagnetic scattering problem, which are modeled as linear Fredholm integral equations (FIEs) of the second kind. But the theoretical aspect of this method has not fully investigated yet. In this article, in addition to presenting a new approach for solving FIE of the second kind, the theory of both methods is investigated as a...
